Getting started
Sign up, create a workspace, draw your first delivery area, and print a route sheet your team can follow.
This guide takes you from a new account to a printed route sheet. It should take about ten minutes, and everything in it works on the free Starter plan.
Create your account
Sign up
Go to prenso.app/signup and create an account with your email address. Prenso sends a verification email straight away, and you'll need to open it before you can sign in. Clicking the link verifies the address and signs you in, so there's no second password prompt.
Set up your workspace
After confirming, you land on Set up your workspace. Fill in:
- Workspace name — usually your branch, region, or electorate. This becomes the first thing everyone sees in the workspace switcher.
- URL — the slug used in every link, for example
prenso.app/acme/wellington. Prenso suggests one from the name. - Industry — controls the vocabulary Prenso uses for fixed signage. Choose Political/Campaigns and they are called hoardings, Real Estate and they are called signboards, anything else and they are called sites.
- Country — determines which address and boundary data is available.
- Address — the office or base you work from. Prenso centres new maps here so you aren't hunting for your own patch every time.
Creating this workspace also creates your organisation. You can rename either later.
Good to know
Industry only changes wording, never behaviour. A site, a hoarding, and a signboard are the same record with the same fields. Change it any time from workspace settings.
Draw your first map
A map in Prenso is a delivery area plus the ordered route through it.
Open Explore
From the sidebar, choose Maps → Explore. You get the full map of your country with your workspace's address data behind it.
Pick an area
There are two ways to define one, and they suit different jobs:
- Draw it. Use the draw tool to trace a polygon around the streets you want. Best when the area is defined by something physical — a river, a main road, a twenty-minute walk.
- Select boundaries. Turn on a boundary layer such as Statistical Area 1 and click the areas you want. Best when you need consistent, repeatable patches that line up with published statistics.
Either way, Prenso previews how many addresses fall inside your selection before you commit. If the number is too big to walk in one go, adjust and watch it update.
Create the map
Name it something a volunteer would recognise — "Newtown east of the park" beats "Map 4" — and create it. Prenso saves the area, the addresses inside it, and the address count.
Generate a route
Open the map you just created. It shows every address as a point, but no order yet.
Select Auto-generate. Prenso orders the addresses into a walking route: along one side of a street and back down the other, rather than criss-crossing the road. The result is a numbered set of segments, listed in the Route panel beside the map.
The generated route is a starting point, not a verdict. In the Route panel you can drag segments into a different order, reorder the addresses within a segment, and remove anything that shouldn't be walked — a private road, a block with a single locked entrance, a stretch someone else is covering. The map renumbers as you go. Select Save when it looks right.
Each segment collapses to a single line, so you can rearrange a long route without scrolling past every address in it.
Print the route sheet
With a route saved, select Print. You get two layouts:
- Route sheet — the map, a tick-off list of streets, and a sign-off block. Use this when someone is walking the route and reporting back.
- Street list — the map and a plain list of streets. Use this when you just need a reference.
Both render as PDFs you can print or send.
Assign it to someone
Printing works on its own, but assigning gives you a record of coverage.
Add your team
Go to Team and add the people who will be delivering. At minimum, add a name and an email address. Team members are records in your workspace — adding someone does not give them a login.
Create a campaign
Go to Campaigns and create one for what you are distributing, for example "March newsletter". A campaign groups every delivery of the same piece.
Assign the map
Inside the campaign, create a delivery: pick the map and the person. Prenso emails them a private link to their route — a map, a street list, and their address count. They don't need an account to open it.
As deliveries are accepted and completed, the campaign shows you what is covered and what is still outstanding.
